TEHRAN- A book focusing on the dialects of Bandar Mahshahr, a port city in the southwestern Khuzestan province, has recently been published. 

Authored by Iranian scholar and literatus Ebrahim Qeisari, the book is a comprehensive collection and dictionary of the dialect spoken by the people of Mahshahr.

Entitled “Tangareh”, the book has been released in two volumes by Now Nevesht Publications based in Khuzestan province.

Qeisari highlighted that the book delves into the language and culture of the local population, stating, “In this publication, I delve into the dialect and spoken language of the people of Bandar Mahshahr, my ancestral homeland, and its ties to classical Persian language.”

Touching upon the structure of the book, Qeisari noted that he has meticulously organized the vocabulary, words, and common expressions used by the city's residents over the past century in alphabetical order.

He explained that each entry in this cultural reference work is dedicated to a specific word or term, followed by a phonetic transcription and its Persian translation. 

To facilitate comprehension, he integrated the words into local sentences, transcribing them again and providing the meanings in Persian.

Furthermore, in his exploration of the words, Qeisari delved into the customs, traditions, games, songs, occupations, historical events, and geographic features of Bandar Mahshahr in a detailed manner, aiming to present a vivid depiction of the city's contemporary life that is gradually fading from memory.

Concluding his remarks, Qeisari underlined that the book serves as a valuable historical record for the city's residents, establishing itself as a trusted reference in the realms of Khuzestan and Mahshahr studies. Most significantly, he emphasized its role as a source for the younger generation to connect with their recent history and native language.
